Work experience, grants, and creative events across the industry. Free for 16–18 year olds in South East London.
Apply
Applications open in April each year. We ask you to fill out a short application form with basic details about you and your work, alongside one piece of creative work in any medium. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview, and successful candidates will be notified by the end of May.
Experience
The summer break is spent gaining hands-on experience, shadowing professionals, and joining insight sessions with top creative industry partners. Matched directly to your interests, placements run from a few days to a few weeks - giving you the chance to explore the industry, see it in action, make valuable connections, and build UCAS - and CV-worthy experience.
Present
Every cohort takes part in a summer workshop led by professional creatives. Previous workshops include Photography with Ejatu Shaw, Mindful Art with Birungi Kawooya, Textile Creativity with Abi Ola, and Ceramics with Mandisa Dumezweni. Designed to expand creative thinking and encourage professional practice, these workshops culminate in a Central London exhibition and celebration. Here, participants can showcase their work, meet alumni, and network with AMTYP partners, mentors, and fellow creatives.
Belong
Every creative who takes part in the summer programme has the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £500 to support their creative practice - whether for equipment, specialised training, or essential resources. Once you have received your grant items, you graduate to become a member of our alumni network. As part of the AMTYP alumni, you gain ongoing access to future workshops, studio visits, mentorship, and networking opportunities with working creatives. The door stays open for you, and as our network grows year-on-year, you become part of a thriving, supportive creative community.
