Common questions about AMTYP, the programme, and how to apply.

About the programme

AMTYP is open to anyone aged 16–18 living in or around south London. No formal experience required — we're looking for curiosity and commitment.

Yes. There are no fees of any kind. We also provide equipment, materials, and studio access throughout the programme.

AMTYP gives young creatives real access to the industry: at least one week of work experience with a matched creative partner, a grant of up to £500 for equipment or training, and ongoing free access to workshops, studio tours, and career events for as long as you're in the network.

Applying

Fill in the application form on our Apply page. We ask for one piece of work in any medium, a short letter about why you want to join, and a brief conversation with our team.

Applications open once a year — sign up to our newsletter to hear first when the next cohort opens.

No. We ask for one piece of work — a link, a photo, a sentence about something you made recently. We're not looking for polish. We're looking for evidence you're making things.

Practicalities

We're based at Copeland Park in Peckham, SE15. The studio is a 5-minute walk from Peckham Rye Overground and well-served by buses.

Time commitments vary depending on what you're working on — work placements, events, and grant projects happen across the year. When you're accepted we'll talk through what to expect before your first session.

Yes. We offer a travel bursary to any participant who needs it. Just ask when you apply — it won't affect your application.

After the programme

Alumni join the AMTYP network — a community of working creatives across the industry. You keep access to events, open calls, and partner introductions. Many go on to commissions, further study, and jobs with AMTYP partners.

Yes. If you've been through one cohort, you can apply to a future one with a new focus area. Several alumni have come back for a second year.
